As with all the LGB - Aster, Special Edition, Locomotives the K-28 comes in a handcrafted, wooden carrying case. The case is big, beautiful, and bulky. And why not? The K-28 measures in at approximately 36 inches. Please note the high-tech workbench. Thanks Ma!

Above we get the first glimpse of this impressive locomotive, napping in its wooden home. A weakness in design on all of the special edition boxes is the three brass hinges, they do not support the weight of the boxes lid we and are prone to stretching and bending. Because of the hinge frailty, it is highly recommended that the box lid be supported when open. You can't see it in the picture but a stack of telephone books is supporting the lid in this photograph. Again, thanks Ma! Although I did not take a close-up shot, the brass nameplate on the case is very impressive and, it is inscribed with this K-28's production number. In consideration of this loco's future owner and his or her privacy, I decided not to show the unit's production number in picture or print.
